This years first meeting for new members will be on September 26th. We will then have meetings every Tuesday and Thursday so if you miss the first feel free to come another day.
No experience is needed as we will teach you everything you need to know. Some of these things include design, programming, fabrication, and assembly. If you have any questions please feel free to email Mr. Collins at [email protected]

As you know, the 2017 Washington Girls’ Generation competition will be all day on October 28th, 2017. This year, we will be holding a contest for a t-shirt design. The winner of the contest will receive a $50 Visa gift card and a free copy of the shirt in their size.
Here is the criteria:
- Max of 3 colors
- Has to say “Washington Girls’ Generation 2017” or some other variation somewhere on the shirt(“Washington Girls’ Gen” “Washington Girls’ Gen 2017” etc.)
- Must be an .ai file
All contest submissions must be in by September 20th. You can submit multiple designs. Submit all designs to the Google Form below:

We will be holding the annual Washington Girls’ Generation Competition on October 28th, 2017. We first held the competition in 2012 as a way to introduce more young women to STEM, making this year the 6th annual competition. This year, will will be competing in the FRC game, FIRST Steamworks on an official FRC field. Teams can be registered by following the link below. After kickoff our team broke up into sub teams to begin our brainstorming our mechanisms and to begin our prototyping process while the strategy team began to crunch numbers to find the best autonomous and teleoperated strategy. Im really looking forward to see how this robot fits together and how it will work in competition. Unfortunately though we have a lot of successful un-integrated machines, so right now our team will have to focus on connecting these various mechanisms.
With district competition behind us, Bear Metal now heads to St. Louis for the 2016 FIRST Championship (the “World Championship”) later this month. Over the course of district competition, we competed in three qualification tournaments and then the district championship in Portland. Thank you to many teams for their donations of food, money, hardware, and assistance as we frantically rebuild our practice robot to be ready for our next competition at week 5 Auburn Senior High School.
Last weekend after our competition when our winning robot got home and when everyone went to sleep some one stole our trailer and either damaged or stole everything inside. Thank you to everyone and every team who has reached out words of hope.
Kiro 7: School Team’s Winning Robot Stolen from Trailer
Tahoma High School’s robotics team, Bear Metal, rose to the finals and won several honors and awards at its first competition of the year. On the weekend of March 4th and 5th, 39 teams from across western Washington gathered at Auburn Mountainview High School for the FIRST Robotics Competition qualifier event.
This year’s game is called “Stronghold”, and has a medieval theme. Robots attempt to storm their opponent’s castle, throwing boulders, traversing rough terrain, crossing drawbridges, and lifting gates.
Bear Metal’s robot was robust and ready for the competition. The first day was filled with qualification rounds. Teams were randomly assigned to alliances of three, and each match pitted two alliances against each other, with a total of six robots on the field. In this part of the competition, we bounced around the top five in the standings. Qualification rounds continued into the evening, and we finished the day in second place.
