Portland is the largest city in Oregon and offers a variety of unique activities and experiences for tourists. The city is known for being clean, green, and historic. It offers a variety of restaurants, shops, galleries, and historic destinations that make it a great city to explore. More on Portland…

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) robotics competitions combine science with the excitement of team sport. Teams of 10 students or more design, build, and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.

Most robotics competitions follow a similar basic pattern. Doors to the venue usually open around 7 am and teams use the morning time to prepare the robot and use the practice field prior to matches. Competitions are very exciting but also very busy and students are expected to be on time for scheduled shifts and to support the team. For more information on this event:

Getting to and around Portland requires students, mentors, and chaperones to drive four hours south from Seattle on Interstate-5. Carpool groups will be set up by the club. Please see the Parents, Mentors, and F.A.Q. page if you are an adult who wishes to volunteer as a driver.
