As we finish up day three, our prototyping teams have mostly settled into their designs and are working to create their mechanisms. Team B has been working on creating a hooded shooter after investigating the success that this type of mechanism had in the FRC 2012 game. They are currently in the fabrication and assembly stage, working to laser some wood parts and cut other metal ones. Team E is working to create a two-wheeled shooter and has been getting some great success with accuracy. They are currently working on a feeding mechanism to make getting the basketball into the shooter easier. Team A experimented with pneumatics for quite a bit before sadly realizing they couldn’t get the ball high enough with the amount of speed and force available. Due to how well the hooded shooter worked for teams in the 2012 season, they decided to switch to that type of design. They have worked with types of wheels, and plan to use polycarb as the outside of the shooter. Team R is also working on some type of wheeled shooter, planning on using backspin to force the ball down into the hoop and avoid bouncing off. As the teams continue to work, we look forward to seeing what they present Saturday evening.
