Prototyping Challenge 2024 Game: Market Mayhem

This week Bear Metal is in the climax of their training season. All throughout this week, members of the team are participating in their annual Prototyping Challenge. This is meant to act as a mock week of build season where they are split into several groups and tasked with designing, fabricating, and assembling a mechanism to complete the challenge the team designs.

This year's game is called Market Mayhem, a game influenced by the stock market. In this game, your team’s task is to pick up Assets located on the Trading Floor, navigate Wall Street, and put them into different levels of Investments of the Stock Market. The team with the largest Portfolio will win.

The Prototyping Challenge is the finale of the training season. It acts as a make or break moment for many members of the team. This lets members experience similar stress levels to what may be experienced during a typical build season.   Anyone who does not make it through Prototyping Challenge or is cut is not exempt from ever being on Bear Metal, and can try out again the following year.

The teams are all in the thick of it as we continue into day 3 of the Prototyping Challenge. Teams are beginning to come out of the design process and have started the fabrication process and will soon begin assembling and testing.
