Summer Camps Week 5: Media & Design Camps
As Bear Metal wraps up this year's 11th annual summer camps, we wanted to share some of the skills and activities campers will learn and experience this week attending our Media Camp and Design and Build Camp. In our Media Camp, students have started pre-production planning for their short films which are set to be finished and showcased at the end of week. This includes scripting, storyboarding, and scheduling. Alongside that, students have started learning their way around DaVinci Resolve, our video editing software, and professional camera equipment, both being industry standards. For the rest of the week, campers will be hands-on filming with camera equipment, learning the process of ingesting video footage and organizing it on a media server, then collaborating on DaVinci Resolve to edit their final production to be previewed. Running alongside our Media Camp is our Design and Build Camp, where students are learning how to use Autodesk’s industry-leading Inventor software. Inventor is a 3D design and CAD application, which is also used to set up toolpaths for our CNC machines. Campers will learn essential skills in the field of design, including problem solving and decision making. Campers will work through and develop these skills while learning how to design a catapult which will be laser cut out of wood and assembled by the campers.
