Summer Camps

This year we offer 7 STEM summer camps along side our traditional robotics camps. All camps will be held at Tahoma High School.

IMPORTANT: COMPLETE REGISTRATION REQUIRES 2 STEPS

Flag Frenzy for Middle School

Our traditional Bear Metal robotics camp, campers will work with a teen counselor in small teams (3 - 5 students) to build a robot that plays a game and will compete against other teams on Friday. Your camper will learn how to work in a team, solve problems, navigate designing and building a robot, see basic programming, compete in a supported environment, and have fun while learning and growing!

Note that Friday hours are longer to accommodate competition. Parents are invited to attend Friday. Competition will also be live-streamed.

Our traditional Bear Metal robotics camp, campers will work with a teen counselor in small teams (3 - 5 students) to build a robot that plays a game and will compete against other teams on Friday. Your camper will learn how to work in a team, solve problems, navigate designing and building a robot, see basic programming, compete in a supported environment, and have fun while learning and growing!

Intro to 3D Printing and Design has participants design models with Web based CAD (Computer Aided Design) and print their models. They will be making custom chains and prototyping rings using FDM 3D printers, PLA filament and Inventor design software. They will learn how to maintain 3D printers as well as how to adjust printer settings for project success.

3D Printing & Design Camp

Campers will learn how to use the Microsoft Make Code Arcade academy to make their own game. We will cover some simple game design principles and code logic using Make Code Academy curriculum. At the end of the week students will have a game that they can share with their friends and family.

NOTE: This camp uses Chromebooks (or laptops). Receive a $20 discount if your student can bring a chromebook or laptop!

Gamemaker’s Coding Camp

FIRST LEGO League Junior

Campers get an early start to discovering their passion for robotics through LEGO League robotics. Campers will use LEGOs to build a robot that will accomplish tasks. With the leadership of high school counselors, students can learn how to build mechanisms and solve problems through innovation and have fun while doing it.

Electronics Camp

Campers will learn the basics of electronics circuits, tinkering with breadboard electronics. They will start with simple circuits and move to more complex projects, learning the basics of Ohm’s Law and algebra. They will employ these newfound skills in problem solving. At the end of the week, each student will assemble their own PCB to take home.

FIRST LEGO League Camp

An intro to the FIRST LEGO League Competition where students learn the fundamentals of engineering, programming, and identifying creative solutions to problems. Groups work to build simple LEGO machines and compete in solving tasks in a game.

Campers will design, laser cut wood and assemble working models of medieval siege machines including a Ballista, Catapult, and Trebuchet. This camp combines an intro to CAD with hands on work with the laser cutter and assembling the final machines. The last day, students will test their machines in a competition.

Design & Build Camp

In this popular camp, students will learn the basics of video shooting, editing, and composition. Throughout the week, campers will work towards making a short film with a duration around 3-5 minutes long, relying on each other and with the help of the counselors in order to produce a product on time. Following the camp, students will bring home their projects along with their video on a custom-made flash drive.
